Hey there, If you’d like to listen to this email instead of reading it, click here! I had a first session with a new client last week, and I was so touched. Her primary goal? To help her dog feel more at ease around other people - and to help her loved ones feel more relaxed and trusting when they’re with her dog. I was reading an email from Simone Seol recently, and one part really struck me. Simone said that in this time of overwhelming collective tragedy, what we really need are people who know how to relate – in a way that starts with their own body and spirit, and expands to all the living beings around them. I immediately thought of my client. Because her goal isn’t just about behavior—it’s about learning to relate. In her body. With her dog. With the people she loves. That’s exactly why I shifted my work from ‘dog training’ to co-regulation! Because this work isn’t just about teaching skills to your dog. It’s about learning how to be—in your body, with your dog, and with the world—more alive and less defended. And that’s why I got goose bumps when my client shared her goal! My client recognizes that yes, her dog is learning to feel safer and more settled when guests are near. And there’s an opportunity here (for both) to explore new ways of connecting that feel easeful, safe, and deeply nourishing. In a world where so much connection is interrupted—by fear, avoidance, and yes, even injustice—it matters when someone chooses to soften instead of shutting down. To stay present instead of pulling away. If you feel this in your bones too—I’m so glad you’re here. This is the work. And I’d be honored to walk it with you.
