Thanks for a great presentation, Sharon!I'm seeing such a tremendous need for understanding dogs as sensory beings with emotional needs. Especially among the professionals who have always emphasized compliance over consent. I'm enrolling new students now in my Academy program for sensitive and reactive dogs. The content is about breathing, movement, and patterns for distressed dogs. I was so excited to see how you connected breath to movement to bring about a state of calm. I love to see students discover the power of co-regulating through breathing and I advise them to get your free workbook. Your explanations of proprioception, interoception, and the vestibular sense and how they are affected by trauma gave me a deeper insight into how to help dogs find their balance again. All the videos of you and Muggins were fun to watch but the demos also made things really memorable! I was particularly interested in how the vestibular sense impacts rhythm in social interaction and ultimately resilience when dogs encounter the unexpected.
