I’m so excited to share with you that I’ll be collaborating with some colleagues to speak at the My Dog Is My Home Co-Sheltering Conference next week!

This is a really special and important conference that brings together:

• Experts by experience with houselessness

• Leaders in the field of pet-inclusive housing

• Hundreds of representatives from human services and animal care orgs

This conference aims to increase access to pet-inclusive emergency and long-term housing - with the goal that someday no one will have to choose between home and animal family members - through workshops, webinars, stories of lived experience, art, community networking, and more!

The session I’ll be speaking at is called Homefulness: Developing Healing Models Through Co-Housing. This session goes live on Wednesday, 3/25, at 3:15pm EST.

Homelessness is both residential and social exclusion.

The current systems that we live in criminalize homelessness, keep people poor, exacerbate trauma, and lead to isolation and psychosocial deterioration, while also separating humans from their animal family members.

Homefulness is an approach that centers multi-marginalized wisdoms on how to live with the Land and supports many different ways of living and being sheltered.
